Justin Szilard: TravelbyBit Expands Dash Usage in Australiatravelbybit news dash australia
TravelbyBit, a digital currency payment processor that focuses on the travel and tourism industry and also “provide[s] travel booking services for digital currency travelers” has been expanding Dash integration across Australia.
Dash Force News caught up with Caleb Yeo, co-founder and CEO, about their company, cryptocurrencies in Australia, and Dash integration. He discussed that they “have over 200 merchants now with new ones coming onboard every day”, and also “have merchants in every major city and state across Australia and [they] have just launched into New Zealand”. A major cryptocurrency hub has developed in Agnes Water & Town Of 1770, which recently received full Dash integration. Caleb told Dash Force News why their POS systems and Dash is so popular in these towns.
“[Town of] 1770 and Agnes Water is a really cool town where lots of digital nomads like to hang out. It is a gateway to the great barrier reef and also has a really good surf beach as well. … Many of the small businesses over there can’t afford to pay for expensive point of sale systems from the traditional system. The TravelbyBit platform is economic and simple to setup and doesn’t need any special hardware. Merchants can use any tablet or even their phone.”
Caleb told Dash Force News that of their current POS devices, “more than half have Dash integration” and that they “have been receiving funding support from the Dash community to roll out integration”. They have been rolling out Dash integration since early on in their company history. Dash Force News asked TravelbyBit what motivated them to integrate Dash into their system.
“To be honest the official DASH wallets are really really good and user friendly.”
TravelbyBit advances cryptocurrency and Dash adoption with their own partnerships
TravelbyBit has been steadily expanding its partnerships such as making the Brisbane International Airport the first cryptocurrency friendly airport in the world by having every merchant accept cryptocurrencies. In fact, their website makes it possible to see the transaction amount and type of cryptocurrency being used. They also recently got a grant of $100,000 AUD from the Queensland government to aid their efforts since, as Caleb noted, “[m]any progressive people in government are happy to support new technologies that can bring much needed competition to the financial services sector”. Caleb went onto discuss how TravelbyBit is able to create a face-to-face relationship with government officials that make them more welcoming of this new technology.
“[T]hey have concerns working with digital currencies because there has been a lot of scams of late and a lot of innocent people have lost money. My role is to help build that trust with government and help legitimate digital cash projects move forward with support from the government and ultimately the support from the community. The government receive hundreds of applications for grants all the time but the Australian government chose to work with us because they see the potential in the blockchain space and they trust TravelbyBit.”
Caleb continued to highlight how he has demonstrated to government officials that their motives are co-aligned, which has aided their current and future acceptance of cryptocurrencies.
“[The] Queensland government is very open to blockchain tech and crypto adoption. In fact I don’t want to say too much yet but there are government owned businesses who are coming onboard taking crypto payments with our platform. They want to help the public understand how blockchain payments work and how if used correctly, can reduce costs of credit card fraud which is growing at shocking rates all over the world. The government is encouraging legitimate education partnerships to bring awareness to schools, universities and the wider public. Stay tuned for the coming official press release.”
Caleb continued to claim that “[c]rypto usage in Australia is the highest in the world per capita”. He highlighted how “there are thousands of online crypto stores around the world but [he] feel[s] physical stores are much more important to gain awareness and mainstream adoption”. Caleb said how there are “100 physical shops accepting crypto and most of them have DASH integration” in Brisbane. He continues to highlight just how popular cryptocurrencies are in Australia.
“I see people paying in crypto everyday here in Australia. I myself pay almost every thing in crypto through a site called living room of satoshi where you can pay any Australian bill in crypto. Your electricity, your rent even taxes to the government can be paid in crypto through this website. Over $5m dollars worth of crypto payments (not trading) is processed every week in Australia”
Dash enables and builds along the same successes
TravelbyBit’s growth strategy of face-to-face development and everyday usage not only further expands Dash integration and adoption, but also validates the growth model of Dash. Since Dash is able to fund developers and community outreach specialists, this allows for individuals to become figureheads for Dash that consumers, businesses, and government officials can reach out to for clarification about Dash. This is seen in the services of Dash Help across Latin America, Dash Venezuela and its affiliates, Dash Embassy D-A-CH, Dash Force News, and others. This is significant since most individuals are unfamiliar with cryptocurrencies and Dash and are naturally skeptical of the unknown. Having a face and organization to act on behalf of the network quells this skepticism and enables adoption.
Dash is also focusing on everyday integrations to increase usage and adoption. Like TravelbyBit mentioned, there are a plethora of online stores that take Dash, but consumers still go to restaurants and cafes to eat, bars to drink, stores to shop, etc. Dash is able to integrate so well with physical store merchants because of Dash’s extremely low transaction costs and very fast confirmation times. Dash’s integration with both online and physical stores is where adoption can make major strides since Dash then starts to become a part of daily life rather than only an online hobby.
