What is Golem?
Golem is a distributed supercomputer built on the Ethereum blockchain that taps into unused processing space as a marketplace for people to buy and sell computing power. As a peer-to-peer distributing computing platform, Golem has many use cases for its Golem protocol, like CGI rendering, building machine learning applications, scientific computing, photogrammetry reconstruction, and more. Users in these domains can benefit from unused processing space of “Providers†or Golem users offering their computation space as “Requestors,†or those who request space for a particular project.
Instead of just moving from a linear sequence of broadcasting a task, completing negotiations, executing, collecting, and delivering a final result, the Golem Network, with it’s peer-to-peer protocol, uses many trustless layers to send messages between nodes in the network to keep their states updated and trigger required events.
Using the GNTÂ token
The Golem Network Token is used to pay for computations on the Golem network. Providers (those who are renting our their machines) can earn GNT by computing tasks for Requestors, while Requestors (individuals or applications looking to have a particular task carried out) set the amount of GNT they’re willing to pay to have their task completed.
