düber: Hemp seed bank approvedusda hemp genetics cannabis-legalization
A U.S. Senate panel has set aside half a million dollars to ensure that agricultural leaders build a stockpile of cannabis genetics in Missouri. The plan will lead to an industrial hemp seed bank where the USDA will store hemp germplasm, genetic matter of germ cells, for use by farmers and researchers. This supply is intended to compensate for hemp germplasm that was destroyed in the 1980s. The bill recognizes hemp as an important crop, promotes research without federal interference and is sure to affect the legal issues that surround hemp.
At düber we know the value of hemp. It’s an eco-friendly renewable crop that requires little water and no pesticides. It’s a source that renders raw materials for countless products: food, nutraceuticals, clothing, paper, construction materials, and more. Let’s not forget that it’s also a primary source of CBD. Currently, the cry for fully legalized hemp is being heard around the country, and this bill is sure to move the cause forward. We applaud the panel’s decision. Do you?
