Conceptual Model

This project owes its existence to the many people who have been supportive of the concepts in the book Pull, to the incredible team of volunteers at 20|30, and to Justin Poirier, who reminded us to let our passion guide us.Pillar is a platform powered by its own native token that will finally fulfill the promise of the personal data locker. Eventually, we believe this wallet will power most devices, including phones, tablets, wearables, cars, buildings, and more. The project will build an open-source, multi-chain wallet that will provide a new digital platform for consumers, companies, and governments.

Project Description

The Pillar wallet will hold keys and let anyone transact with many blockchains (multi-chain wallet), will be able to see hundreds of kinds of tokens and coins. The Pillar wallet will not be tied with any browser, nor to an exchange (option to choose multiple exchanges). While the wallet and platform are open-source and free, users will pay for the various services with pillar tokens (PLRs) as they use them. The token will power the entire ecosystem, giving an instant business model to many projects that can tie in.The Pillar token will be an ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain.8919 buyers contributed a total of 113,674.4 ETH with a mean purchase of 12.75 ETH.

Crypto Tax Summary

As part of The Token Handbook, I have just released The Tax Chapter — 8,000 words on tax treatment for crypto-assets. I have also included a short essay on how I think tax should work and how it ties in with a universal basic income. When I speak to audiences, few people know any of this...

Updated Pillar Wallet Road Map

London, March 16, 2018Several months ago, I published the first Pillar Wallet Roadmap, with the caveat that this was a general direction, not a specific promise. We’re building the foundation for the personal data locker, to realize our dream of data sovereignty and personal empowerment. Now...

An Open Letter to the SEC

This piece was originally published in a slightly shorter form in The IB Times. The goal of the SEC is to keep retail investors safe. On January 25th, Jay Clayton of the SEC and J. Christopher Giancarlo of the CFTC published an op-ed piece in the Wall Street Journal (ungated here), in which...

The Bitcoin Bubble Explained to a Couple of Four-Year Old Twins

IT WOULD BE NICE if people like Mike Novogratz and Yanis Varoufakis (and almost all journalists) knew the definition of a speculative bubble. Because bitcoin is not a bubble, so anyone who calls cryptocurrencies or bitcoin a bubble doesn’t know what a bubble is. Lou Kerner has described it as...

You haven’t really addressed liquidity, Jamie.

You haven’t really addressed liquidity, Jamie. I’ll be surprised if this model takes off. WHY would an investor want to convert to tokens? To use them? No. To get liquidity. And there’s a one-way game here — only accredited investors can purchase equity tokens. So who gets the equity...

The Pillar Branding Journey …

The Pillar project was born out of the 20|30 community. I had designed the first web site for 20|30 and its first logo. As I have a background in type and graphic design, I always design my own logos. Here’s one from a startup I never launched …Here’s an iteration from a project I worked...
