All Things GRAFT - The Importance of Privacy

Graft is a global, open-sourced, blockchain-based, decentralized payment gateway and processing platform that anyone can use.

In this video, I talk about the importance of privacy in a blockchain solution designed specifically for payments and discuss a few of the ways in which the GRAFT payment platform ensures the complete privacy of its users. One of the reasons many people like the idea of cryptocurrencies is because it allows anyone to become their own bank. The ease and use of a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, for example, can lead many to believe that Bitcoin is more private and secure than a regular bank account, which it isn't. While no personal information is ever required to start using Bitcoin, because of the way it was designed ANYONE is able to scan the Bitcoin blockchain and see any transactions that ever took place with a particular Bitcoin address. This is a BIG problem. Why would you want any knowing your personal financial information. For a blockchain solution designed specifically for payments this is unacceptable. Using open publicly verifiable blockchains like Bitcoin, Litecoin, or Dash for personal finances opens you up to the possibility of being targeted by malicious actors, which could put you at risk of possibly losing all of your funds or worse, bring harm to you or your family. This risk, has led many to seek alternative solutions for blockchain payments with the primary focus of providing security and privacy to its users. This, is one of the key elements behind the development of the GRAFT payment platform which utilizes CryptoNote as its underlying transaction recording protocol. CryptoNote, which is used by many privacy-centric cryptocurrencies, ensures that all transactions that occur on the GRAFT network are secure, completely private, and untraceable. No ONE except for the people involved in a transaction will ever have record or knowledge of that transaction, EVER, without the consent of the transacting parties. CryptoNote keeps all the benefits of blockchain technologies, while returning all the lost privacy features like untraceable payments, unlinkable transactions, blockchain analysis resistance, and confidential transaction amounts. On top of that, GRAFT also adds confidential transaction fee amounts for additional privacy. There are three mechanisms used to ensure the privacy of GRAFT network users. These are: stealth address, ring signatures, and ring confidential transactions, also known as RingCT. Stealth addresses protect the privacy of the payee, ring signatures protect the privacy of the payer, and RingCT hides the transaction amount. It’s easy see why GRAFT has chosen CryptoNote as its underlying protocol as it’s the technology that allows for the creation of completely anonymous cryptocurrencies. The combinations of all of these unique features is why many privacy-centric cryptocurrencies choose to implement CryptoNote as their underlying transaction recording protocol. Unlike many of these “privacy coins”, however, GRAFT is a complete payment platform designed to give cryptocurrency users ALL of the tools of today’s most advanced payment systems. This gives GRAFT the ability to the provide a very high level of privacy to its users while also allowing them to comply with local laws and regulations. While the GRAFT blockchain itself is completely private, the network is able to prompt the user with the ability to selectively reveal details of their personal identifiable information to merchants should the merchant ever request it or be required by law to collect this information. By combining some of the best features of blockchain technology along with many of the tools of today’s most advanced payment systems, it is my believe that GRAFT truly possesses the potential of revolutionizing the way the world makes payments.

All Things Graft - Comparing Payment Solutions

Graft is a global, open-sourced, blockchain-based, decentralized payment gateway and processing platform that anyone can use.

In this video, I discuss many of the different blockchain payment solutions currently available within the cryptocurrency space and explain why I believe Graft is by far the best payment solution for cryptocurrencies. Many are aware that the problem with cryptocurrencies is that they are too slow to be used for payments. This is due to the fact that they sacrifice speed in order to maintain security and decentralization. Now, there have been many solutions that have come about in the past decade but to under why GRAFT is the best solution for the enabling the instant use of cryptocurrency payments let's discuss the pros and cons of each of these solutions and explore how each compares to GRAFT. The first payment solution which is also the most popular is the payment processor. Payment processors enable the use of cryptocurrencies as payments by acting a 3rd party intermediary. This unfortunately comes at the sacrifice of centralization. Payment processors suffer from centralization, being a single point of failure/attack, control over who gets services and ability to freeze their clients funds. They also dont' scale well and have a hard time providing cross-border support which results in a slow rate of adoption. Another popular payment solution is the cryptocurrency Visa/MasterCard payment card. This solution also suffers from the problems of centralization but on top of that relies on the very systems cryptocurrency were designed to avoid and possibly even replace, like the banking system and traditional payment networks. Another payment solution is companies that offer new payment terminals. This is another centralized solution that will have many problems in obtaining adoption as many retailers will not wan to replace their terminals with a company's terminal they've never heard of. There is also regulatory and licensing complications. Another solution is the payment blockchain which are blockchain projects that attempt to make their blockchains useable for payments by enabling instant transactions or privacy features. The problem here is that they only work with their native cryptocurrency and don't integrate well with traditional payment terminals which results in a slow rate of adoption. The last and best solution is of course the payment network. A payment network works very similar to traditional payment networks and performs many similar tasks like pre-authorizations and validations, verifying and placing funds on hold, transferring payments, performing currency exchange, and distributing fees, all of which is accomplished by accepting and coordinating services from the various network participants. This is exactly what the GRAFT payment network does. It decentralizes the entire payment process and allows various participants to become part of the ecosystem. GRAFT is a GLOBAL DECENTRALIZED PAYMENT PROCESSING NETWORK that brings to cryptocurrencies all of the features and services consumers and merchants have become accustomed to utilizing from traditional payment systems. GRAFT is based on ideas, principles, and technologies introduced and tested by creators of other blockchains like Bitcoin’s decentralization, Ethereum’s smart-contract functionality, Monero’s privacy and untraceability, and Dash’s implementation of a 2nd layer.
Combine all of this with the global effect of a payment network, like Visa’s or MasterCard’s and you have a blockchain payment solution with the potential of disrupting the entire payment industry.

All Things Graft - The Graft Transaction Fee

Graft is a global, open-sourced, blockchain-based, decentralized payment gateway and processing platform that anyone can use.

In this video, I try to give you a complete breakdown of the overall Graft transaction processing fee and provide a few examples of fees one would expect to pay in different types of payment scenarios. Now, since Graft is being developed to resemble and work very similar to traditional payment systems the overall Graft transaction is also comprised various small fees which are charged to the merchant and are awarded to various network participants. The network participants that can be found on the Graft network are a Merchant Service Provider, the proxy supernode owners, the pay-in and payout brokers, the owners of the supernodes within the authorization sample and finally the owner of the mining node. Each of these participants charges flat percentage fee which all add up to the overall Graft network transaction fee. MSP's normally charge a fee of around .2% - .4% per transaction, proxy supernode owners charge a fee of .05% each per transaction, the pay-in and payout brokers charge a fee of .25% each any time an exchange is needed and performed on the network, the supernode owners of the authorization sample charge a fee of .5% per transaction which is divided between all 8 supernodes of the sample, and the mining node earns a flat of .1 GRFT or greater which is set by the merchant service provider depending upon their business model. Now, in this video I cover various types of different payment scenarios where the fees paid by the merchant range from 1.5% plus .1 GRFT all the way down to .6% plus .1 GRFT. Transaction fees on the Graft network are much lower than transaction fees on traditional payment networks. This is the case even at the highest transaction fee charged by the network. It is easy to easy from this video and the examples why cryptocurrencies and the Graft payment network are a better option for any merchant needing to process cryptocurrency payments.

All Things Graft - How Graft Is Like Visa/MC/Amex

Graft is a global, open-sourced, blockchain-based, decentralized payment gateway and processing platform that anyone can use.

In this video give I try to explain how the Graft payment platform is being developed to work very similarly to traditional payment platforms and why such development is Graft’s greatest advantage over any other cryptocurrency payment solution. In order for Graft to become the first global decentralized payment blockchain solution it will adopt payment processing protocols and flows similar to more traditional electronic payment systems. This adoption is important because it will allow consumers and merchants to easily begin using cryptocurrencies for payments in a way they are most familiar with. One of the first characteristics that makes Graft similar to traditional payment platforms is it's ability to split payments into authorization and settlement. This is something that is done by all traditional payment platforms and is something that is important for Graft to adopt. Another characteristic is that Graft charges fees to the merchant and not the buyer, which is completely opposite to the way current blockchain systems works. If we want consumers and merchants to adopt cryptocurrencies as a payment option then they need to be able to transact in the same way they are used to. Another characteristic is that Graft is being developed to integrate easily with current point of sale systems. This will allow merchants to easily accept cryptocurrency payments through existing point of sale terminals making cryptocurrency adoption a lot easier. Merchants will also have access to Graft's decentralized API allow them to easily access with any 3rd party point of sale terminal in order to process cryptocurrency payments. Another characteristic is that Graft will allow for the processing of payments with a variety of different transaction types. This is something that is very important in order for businesses to begin using cryptocurrencies as this will allow them to use cryptocurrencies for payments in a way they are used to. Another characteristic is that Graft will also offer decentralized crowd funded credit cards as well cold storage cryptocurrency debit cards. This will help people that are not familiar with the world of cryptocurrencies to still continue to use payment cards to make payments while still being able to upgrade to the world of cryptocurrencies. The final characteristic is that Graft allows for instant currency exchanges within it's network. Graft will all buyers to pay with whatever cryptocurrency they prefer while also allowing merchants to accept their preferred currency, whether it'd be Graft, another cryptocurrency or their local fiat currency. Graft is being developed by payment industry professional that understand the industry and know exactly what technologies to combine in order for Graft to gain worldwide adoption.

All Things Graft - The Graft Exchange Broker

Graft is a global, open-sourced, blockchain-based, decentralized payment gateway and processing platform that anyone can use.

In this video give you an overview of the Graft exchange broker and explain how they provides near instant cryptocurrency exchanges of various cryptocurrencies within the Graft network. Graft exchange broker plays a very important role within Graft’s network because it’s the part of the network that allows for the real-time exchange of various cryptocurrencies within the network. Graft exchange brokers enable the instant acceptance of various cryptocurrencies by merchants at the point of sale, the ability for merchants to receive payout in whatever currency they prefer, either crypto or fiat, and the ability for ANYONE to exchange one particular cryptocurrency for another in real-time. Every exchange that is performed by an exchange broker is trustless and automatic since they require the use of Graft’s authorization sample in order to perform the trade. The authorization sample ensures that all exchanges provided by exchange brokers occur in a decentralized manner. Anyone is able to become a Graft Exchange Broker. All that is required a minimum balance of 50,000 GRFT. Now, any time the service of an exchange broker is required the exchange broker can assume any of the following three roles; a Pay-In Broker, a Payout Broker, or an Interchange Broker. A pay-in broker allows merchants to instantly accept a particular cryptocurrency at the point of sale by quickly exchanging that cryptocurrency into Graft in order for the transaction to be processed within the Graft network. The payout broker allows merchants quickly exchange Graft into the particular currency the merchant would like to receive as payout. And the Interchange brokers are simply pay-in and payout brokers that transact with each other in order to allow for the real-time exchange of one particular cryptocurrency for another. Interchange brokers allow two different parties to leverage Graft’s 2nd layer network of supernodes to perform a trustless exchange, also known as an atomic swap, between two different cryptocurrencies other than Graft. Graft pay-in and payout broker functions can be extended beyond Graft’s intended payment ecosystem and into a real-time decentralized exchange. As long as each party holds up their end of the bargain then each party will receive their payout. Graft exchange brokers play a very important role within Graft’s network and is what will allow merchants to instantly accept any cryptocurrency at the point of sale, receive their preferred payout currency, and allow anyone to exchange any major cryptocurrency for another in real-time.

All Things Graft - The Graft Supernode & RTA

Graft is a global, open-sourced, blockchain-based, decentralized payment gateway and processing platform that anyone can use.

In this video I give an overview of the Graft supernode and explain how it enables instant real-time authorizations of cryptocurrency payments within the Graft network. The Graft supernode is the most important part of the Graft project because it enables may different important functionalities. Graft is decentralized which means anyone can own a Graft supernode. All that is required is a powerful server and a stake or collateral balance in the wallet associated with the supernode. Supernode stake ranges from 50,000 Graft all the way to 250,000 Graft. Graft also offers delegated staking which allows people to combine balances in order to run a supernode. There are two different types of supernodes on Graft's network. They are called the full supernode, which process real-time authorizations and hosts service brokers, and a proxy supernode, which provides higher level of privacy for network users as well as offline transactions approvals for merchants. Proxy supernodes are also used to relay transactions between wallets and the authorizations sample, which is a group of 8 supernode that authorize and validate transactions. The Graft blockchain is comprised of two layers. The first layer works similar to how other single layer blockchains work while the second layer is new uniquely designed to provide instant authorizations.

All Things Graft - Why Graft Is Important

Graft is a global, open-sourced, blockchain-based, decentralized payment gateway and processing platform that anyone can use.

In this video, I attempt to explain the importance of the Graft payment system and the value that it brings to the world of payments. As, I've explained in previous videos, Graft, is a payment system that allows merchants to easily accept cryptocurrencies at the point of sale. The easiest way to describe Graft is to say that it's the Visa or Mastercard of cryptocurrencies but in reality it's actually a whole lot more. The most important thing about Graft isn't that it allows merchants to easily accept cryptocurrencies. Instead, it's what Graft is actually bringing to the world of payments which is the same thing that Bitcoin has brought to the world of currencies and that is decentralization. To the average person, Bitcoin is simply just another currency but in reality it's actually a way for civilization to escape our debt based slave system of money. Bitcoin frees us from having to take part in the current monetary system. This is only possible due to it's decentralized nature. Decentralization allows Bitcoin to have no central point of control and gives the world a more fair system of money. The unfortunate thing about Bitcoin, however, is that it wasn't designed to meet the needs of the payment industry of today. Bitcoin is too slow and it doesn't allow for different payments types which consumers and merchants relay on today. In order for merchants to accept Bitcoin they have been forced to utilize 3rd party payment processors which reintroduces centralization to Bitcoin and contradicts the main principle of cryptocurrencies, decentralization and independence. Centralized 3rd party's reintroduces the problems decentralized systems aim to solve which is trust, security, and privacy. In order for Bitcoin to continue it's financial revolution it must be used with a payment system that preserves it's decentralized nature. As a fully decentralized payment system, Graft, gives merchants the ability to accept cryptocurrencies at the point of sale in a variety of payment types while also preserving the decentralized nature of cryptocurrencies. Graft is what I believe to be a continuation of the decentralized payment revolution that Bitcoin started back in 2009 and the platform needed to launch cryptocurrencies towards mainstream adoption.
